The problem with RSS Feed apps
I’m rediscovering RSS feeds, and all the glory of mindful internet consumption.
It’s great!
There’s no algorithm to keep you hooked. You either have unread posts, or you don’t. That’s beautiful. And how the web was supposed to be.
I’m currently using Reeder 5, which is super fast, and helps you find the feeds by just dropping the URL.
There’s one thing I can’t find anywhere, though: a way to highlight and take notes on articles.
And I mean in-app private notes, linked to that article, that I can browse later, as I revisit that article, or export later into my own note-taking app. Much like the Kindle app does.
The only app that does this is the Matter app, which ties you into a hefty monthly fee of over 15 USD per month. No lifetime subscription.
Bummer.
I may have to create my own flow of: reading on Reeder 5, then copying and pasting highlights into my notes app. Not the best approach, but it will have to do.
